Spinal Tap is not much point clearly with "i" and an umlaut over the "n" written (spine), is a fiction, especially the heavy metal band best known for 1984 rockumentary / mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap . The members of the group are played by Michael McKean (David St. Hubbins), Christopher Guest (Nigel Tufnel) and Harry Shearer (as Derek Smalls), released in 1978 special ABC television comedy show.
The group is "largely fictitious" in the sense that its members have always been the main actors parody the stereotypes of heavy metals, but by holding concerts and releasing albums have blurred the line between reality and fiction.
